Daily Inspiration: Fiesta!

This is a 'Fiesta' Forsythia on standard (tree form)! It is COMPLETELY covered in bright yellow blooms! For some reason, I love all things on standard. It must be the structure they can bring to a garden- you get the same beautiful shrub, but with a tidier appearance. We have been bringing in 2-3 loads of beautiful plants per week, and will continue to for quite awhile! Come down for a little inspiration!

Daily Inspiration: Herbs

I love when fresh herbs start coming in! I have brought home chives, cilantro, golden oregano, curry, parsley, purple sage, and french lavender thus far!

Daily Inspiration: Snow.

When all I want to do is be out in the garden, I get to watch (from inside) the snow coming down in droves. I had my whole day lined out with garden and outdoor projects which will now have to wait for another day!

I guess my lawn-edging, grass-mowing, weed-pulling, garden cleanup will have to wait! Enjoy the snow (if you can bear to)!

Daily Inspiration: Magnolia blooms!

After we picked up everything that had fallen over in the nursery from the terrible wind storm we had yesterday, we noticed that the 'Royal Star' Magnolias had begun to bloom despite (and in spite :) of the storm. Just beautiful!

The 'Royal Star' Magnolia grows 10-15 ft. wide and 10-12 feet tall and is a zone 5. They take full to part sun, and do very well in our area! I think I should have one of these someday!

Daily Inspiration: Crocus

I have been really enjoying my blooming crocus this week! Planting bulbs can be quite a lot of work, but it is so worth it when we finally see the work come to fruition! I pick out new bulbs every year, and in the process of planting them always inadvertently dig up some of my other bulbs, creating the need to plant even more bulbs... I usually plant so many that I forget where I put everything. It is always a fun surprise in the spring when I see things start popping out of the soil everywhere!

Daily Inspiration: Faces!

We got some really interesting, different pieces in this year! Here is one of them!
You will have to come see the wide array of styles! Lots of beautiful wall fountains, concrete shoe planters (not the boots you see around, but beautifully-designed ladies heels :), gargoyles, celtic pieces, Asian-inspired designs, intricate designs....basically a design for every style and taste!

We are having a hard time not taking everything home with us!

Daily Inspiration: Plants!

This is what it looks like before our loads are displayed- pallet after pallet full of beautiful specimen trees and evergreens. Many customers come in right away when they hear new loads have arrived and shop right off the pallets for first pick! :)

I have lots of displaying to do! I am thankful for the GORGEOUS day!!!

Enjoy your day!

Daily Inspiration: New Discovery

This 'Chief Joseph' Pine came in on one of our recent plant loads. I LOVE how different it looks! This picture shows you it's winter color. In the summer the yellow turns more green, making it look more like a regular small, specimen pine. The cold winter temperatures bring out this vivid yellow. This specimen was VERY recently discovered in the Wallowa Mountains of northeastern Oregon. It's so new that we don't even know it's mature size! However, they have been around just long enough to determine they are a slow-growing pine, making them a great accent in any garden!

Look how it 'pops' when placed around normal evergreen colors!
